Rana B. McReynolds is a Ph.D. candidate in Political Science at the University of California, Davis.

Research Focus

I study American politics with a focus on intersectionality. Specifically, I'm interested in how voters’ perceptions of Black women candidates shape vote choice, candidate incentives, and policy outcomes. I also study gender stereotypes, sexism, and misogynoir.

My dissertation project examines how ambivalent sexism and racial resentment influences voters’ evaluations of Black women candidates.
