Grad student and soon to be Ph.D. Rizwan Asghar has accepted a multi-year position as a Research Fellow in the Department of Political Science at Trinity College Dublin where he will continue his research on civil-military relations and its effects on civil war outcomes and nuclear weapons policy.  Congratulations Rizwan!

Two current graduate students (Sam Fuller and Sarah Kazemian) and two recent Ph.D.'s (Carlos Algara and Daniel Simmons) have published an article in PLOS ONE on "Assessing the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccine lotteries: A cross-state synthetic control methods approach."  Nicely done!

Hübert and Little have published their article in the American Journal of Political Science on how the threat to use kompromat (i.e., the threat to release compromising information) influences relationships between leaders and their subordinates.

In an article in Political Analysis, Prof. Hare uses complex, machine learning algorithms to gain insight into swing voting.  "[We] use of an ensemble of supervised machine learning methods to predict swing voters in the 2012, 2016, and 2020 U.S. presidential elections. . .

This week we have two graduate students giving talks as part of PSRW.  Spencer Kiesel on "Non-Religious Identity Salience for Candidate Choice" & Laurel Yacuta on "Civil War and Intra-Regime Coherence."
